Dreaming a Dream
Have you seen the new video by Pentatonix? I watched “Imagine” by John Lennon, and it caused me to pause and think about the role dreamers play in society.

I’ve been called a dreamer. Someone who believes we can build a better tomorrow by starting today.
Who Are Dreamers
Dreamers can see it. We are visionaries and know the secret isn’t in the dream. No, that is just the start. We strive to be the change and believe in the ripple effect.
Dreamers take risks and push boundaries. When the rest of the world mocks and tells us we look at the world through rose-colored glasses, we smile and say “Yeah, watch this…”
Dreamers articulate the vision. One step, one word, and one act at a time. Each step moves us forward, and while society may try to knock us down, our tenacity and stubbornness cause us to rise taller, stronger and ready to tackle the next obstacle.
Dreamers don’t give up. When the world is in chaos, we hope in humanity and the possibility of a brighter future. When we go beyond our comfort zone, we are in our element, imploring those around us to recognize the beauty in the ordinary and to never accept status quo.
Dreamers Need Realists
“You be the anchor that keeps my feet on the ground, I’ll be the wings that keep your heart in the clouds.” ~Mayday Parade
Dreamers need realists in their lives. My husband is a realist. He sticks to a schedule or a plan and works to make sure our daily lives stay on track. He is the first person I run to when I need to share a new revelation. While he is logical and supports my spontaneous ideas, he also knows there are steps to take to follow the vision. When I jump heart first into something, he helps develop a plan to turn the dream into reality. Realists aren’t afraid of the dreamer, and in my case, it was the realists in my life who encouraged the dreamer to awaken.
“There are dreamers, and there are realists in this world. You’d think the dreamers would find the dreamers, and the realists would find the realists, but more often than not the opposite is true. Dreamers need the realists to keep them from soaring too close to the sun. And the realists, well without the dreamers, they might not ever get off the ground.” ~ Modern Family
The world is full of dreamers, but many haven’t acknowledged it yet. A wise realist will help awaken the dreamer recognizing the only true way to quiet their restlessness, is by helping them find opportunities to create a better community.
It’s Time To Awaken The Dreamer
John Lennon said “A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality.”
The reality for the dreamer is if we want a better world, we need to awaken the dreamers who slumber. We need them to join us so that the world can live as one.
